Post 661: The Calm in the Storm

In the book Open, Nate Klemp talks about a mindfulness practice where he goes to a crowded place. This could be a Costco, grocery store, or the Farmer’s Market. He practices staying calm and centered there. There is so much going on, distractions everywhere, and he finds it as a place to test his openness.

I really like this metaphor. My mind can be pure chaos, depending on what I am focusing on. If I can be calm in the disarray outside myself, wouldn’t that help me learn to develop peace inside my inner turmoil?
