A Little Happiness Just for You

Post 49: What's the Difference?

I had a friend tell me she thought I was intentionally saying something to hurt her. I told her I had no idea I was being harsh and I meant only goodwill. I told her I loved her, and wanted her to be around me.

She became fixated on the feeling she was having when she believed I was trying to harm her. She got angry at me even though I told her, in reality, I had zero intent to injure her.

To understand my final question in this post, let’s do a thought experiment:

Let’s say I have the thought that she is an alien here to abduct me. She then goes to the doctor and runs multiple tests which prove she is a human being. Then I stay away from her for the rest of my life because I still believe my thought.

Most people would think I am a lunatic for believing my thought over reality. My question is, what is the difference between these two scenarios?
