Post 36: My Thoughts are Often Lies

The fear I keep hearing is: If I just watch what is going on around me instead of pretending I understand it, won’t I just be an idiot watching the world go by?

Here’s my big question: has all the stress, anxiety, and worrying been helpful? My experience has found it to be almost universally detrimental. Focusing on the things I am afraid of occurring has given me physical, mental, and emotional pain. (Headaches, back pain, heartache, and more.) Even when the vast majority of my fears and daydreams never occur.  I have regularly held myself back from even attempting simply because I was concerned about one specific possible outcome.

So what is the reason for so strongly believing these thoughts? I think it is simply habit. Learning to take my focus away from them has consistently made the worries, stress, and anxiety show up less for me.
