Post 1,484: A Better World
I am reading Enlightenment Now by Steven Pinkner at this moment. It is crazy how extremely he shifts the narrative about what is going on in the world. There is not really one single metric in which the world is getting worse. We currently live in the safest, wealthiest, most free time we have ever lived in.
However, that is not the story I hear out in the world. It is the exact opposite of what I receive from most news sources. It is a completely different sentiment than I get from talking with friends.
And yet, facts show we are doing amazing.
The story I tell myself matters.
