Post 1,396: Choose Again
It’s amazing how many different things I prioritize. Here is just a small list:
I want to get good sleep. I want to breathe deeply, through my nose, with my stomach moving instead of my shoulders. I want to get exercise. I want to hang with my family. I want to be there for my friends. I want to make money. I want to relax. I want to eat healthy. I want to eat tasty junk. I want to get outside and walk, bike, hike, swim, move. I want to stay inside and play video games or watch a show. I want to read. I want to listen to good conversations. I want to have good conversations. I want silence. I want to meditate. I want new experiences. I want to enjoy old, favorite experiences. I want to meet new people. I want time with my people.
This is just a very small list of my wants. Many of them directly contradict each other. Some of them I don’t have a lot of control over. Looking at them all at the same time makes them seem impossible to achieve.
Yet, if I simply keep checking in with myself, noticing what is available in the moment, and choosing again, I can do every single one of these multiple times in a week.
It’s not about picking the best option for the rest of my life. It’s about listening to myself right now, and choosing again.
