Post 1,339: Stupid Fights
It seems so weird to me to be angry at someone for them not paying attention to what I am paying attention to. It’s like how can you get mad at me for not being angry about whatever is happening in your world? Why does it matter if what is important to you is important to me?
There are challenges in this world with poverty, violence, climate, politics, global systems, local systems, relationships, hunger, and so much more, let alone what is happening to my family and friends. If I am paying attention and putting effort into one, it is very difficult to put the same amount of energy into any of the others.
Let’s say I spend my time working on solving hunger of some sort. Does that make me a bad person because I am not trying to stop human trafficking? Doesn’t that sound ridiculous to say out loud? And yet, I believe it is the same argument that is happening in almost any political conversation nowadays.
This is all to say, choose what matters to you, and don’t worry about if it matters to anyone else. Improve the world in your own way. Let everyone else do it in theirs.
