Post 1,184: RJ Webby Baby
I just heard a great idea from the book Change Your Brain Every Day. Daniel Amen suggests giving my brain its own name. That way, when my brain starts to come up with ridiculous or hurtful thoughts, I can distance myself from it. It is not me coming up with these thoughts, it is RJ Webby Baby. (That was my father’s nickname for me when I was really young. Love it!)
I love this idea! My brain comes up with absolutely ludicrous ideas every day. Instead of having to identify with them, I can just ignore that crazy ol’ RJ.
I am going to try this out with my kids too. I am interested in if they can separate themselves from their random fancies more easily this way.
