Post 1,166: Believing the Fantasy
I notice my youngest child is very good at making up a story in her head and then being hurt by that story. Here is an example:
My sister didn’t ask me to play with her. She must think I am no fun and she doesn’t want to be around me. Crying begins.
Or
I didn’t get (thing of the day). My parents are mean and they don’t love me. Crying begins.
The things is, she makes up reasons in her head for why things happen. Then she treats those thoughts like they are what actually happened.
Made up thoughts causing upset. I have done this throughout my life as well. Learning to not believe my fantasies has been a huge help.
