Post 1,380: When Life Gets Frustrating

What do I do when a part of my life is not the way I want it? The first question is: do I have any control over it? Is it something I am doing, or is someone else doing it? Does it even involve a person at all?

If I have any power over it? Then I start looking for what I can affect and thinking about how I might want to affect it.

If I have no ability to affect it, then I still have several choices. First, can I leave it? Is the thing I don’t like an optional part of my existence? Would leaving it hurt me in any other way?

Second, can I accept it? If it is something I have no control over, and I can’t get rid of it, then what is stressing over it doing for me? Acceptance at the very least lessens the mental pain.

Third, can I find excitement for it? Is there any single part of the problem I can enjoy, or maybe even love? Can I focus in on those parts and quiet the part of my brain that is constantly complaining about it?

The big takeaway from this one is: what on Earth is complaining getting me except feeling worse?
