I find when I am in a tough situation, I withdraw. I feel slighted, or angry, or hurt, and I pull away.
The problem with this is the thing that pretty much always makes me feel better is people.
So, I am upset with someone, and I stop engaging with them. Then I feel like they don’t care about me. (Because I am not connecting with them.) Then I pull away further. I am sure I have lost people in my life because of this.
I am sharing this because it took me a while to figure out I was a big part of the problem. And in most instances, all I had to do was talk with the other person to find out it was all in my head in the first place.
I think it is vitally important to watch for where I am digging the hole deeper.
