Post 1,487: Possible Danger

October 19, 2026•1 min read

There is a walk near my house where I am moving over dirt trails through the woods, and it has very narrow bridges along it. I don’t think a thing about them, even though they are so skinny, because they are quite short.

Whereas, if I was on a mountain, and the same size bridge came over a high drop, I would freak out because of the possible danger of falling down that space that could severely injure or kill me. Same bridge size, with a very different feeling because of the conceivable hazard. Even if that imaginable peril is incredibly unlikely. Having that plausible huge risk there makes me feel very different about it, even if the likelihood of it coming to pass is incredibly small.

Where else am I letting that fear of possible, yet very unlikely, hazard affect me?
