Post 1,397: Face the Fear

July 21, 20261 min read

My oldest has been going to summer camp for more than half a decade now, and she loves it. My youngest tried when she was very young, since her sister was so thrilled about it. Unfortunately, she was too young, homesick, and got scared away from going back for several years.

Then, her older sister went again earlier this year, and was so pumped, she finally decided to try again. And so yesterday, we dropped her off at her first full week of summer camp ever. (She had only done a half week before.)

I am so excited for her. And I am so proud she chose to overcome her fear. At a very young age, she was given a strong emotional reason to not go back. And yet, she listened to herself, listened to her sister, and chose to override that fear.

Where am I holding myself back because of fear? Can I use my daughter as an impetus to face that fear?
