
Post 1,352: A Reason to Not Cover Your Butt
I notice a trend of people saying something, then immediately explaining that the negative interpretation of what they said is not what they intended. Even if it is patently obvious what they meant.
This type of defense seems like it brings up the negative thought more often than if I just trusted the other person to know what I mean. It also feels like a cover to control the other person and make sure they know I am not trying to hurt them.
I would much rather assume the person I am having a conversation with has positive intent. It creates so much less tension.
