Post 1,315: Deciding for Myself

April 30, 20261 min read

Is it more important to eat healthy at this meal, or enjoy myself because I deserve it? How healthy am I? Have I done something worth celebrating?

What I am attempting to point out here is there is no such thing as a universal rule. I think it is great to be healthy. Which is more important: my physical health or mental health? One moment I could be focused on one, and my decisions change from when I am focused on the other.

I need to keep deciding for myself. Saying I will eat healthy for the rest of my life seems like it lets me off the hook from making choices. Just eat healthy. What about when my wife makes me a treat? What if my kids want to go get ice cream?

Being present in the moment, looking at my options, and choosing what is important to me here and now is going to give me my inputs. I choose the outputs.
