Post 1,308: The Bug that Bites
I read an interesting thought today. The author put forth it is not necessary to figure out why a thought or feeling has gotten stuck in my head. Because the only reason to know why is to be looking for the causes in order to stay away from them. If I instead simply let the thought or feeling occur, accept it, and let it go; it is no longer stuck in my head.
If I am searching for why, I am keeping my focus on the thing I want to get rid of. I am holding on to it in order to understand it.
I don’t need to know why the bug bit me. I just need to be aware it did and move on with my day. Why would it be different for thoughts or feelings?
