Post 1,270: A Better Understanding

March 16, 20261 min read

I need to remember that I don’t always hear the same thing as what someone is trying to say to me. What they intend, and how I interpret it can be two wildly different meanings. It helps to ask for clarity. I don’t do this enough. However, it can help with my wife, my children, my coworkers, my friends, and even the casual acquaintance I make.

Ask for clarification. Say what I heard and ask if I got it right. Ask for them to say it a different way. All these options can dramatically help my understanding of the other.
