Post 1,250: Hidden Happiness
I never know what is going to matter to someone else. I took my daughter to a musical last night that was clearly aimed at adults. Her voice coach was in it, and she was extremely excited to be there.
When we arrived, I found out I knew several people in the cast, as well as the assistant director, who sat right next to me. He and I talked several times throughout the night, and I was surprised how much it meant to him that I had brought my teenage daughter with me.
The show had been viewed almost entirely by adults, and I believe he was excited to get to hear a different demographic’s point of view. Not surprisingly, she loved it, and she told him so in no uncertain terms. I could see him light up.
I would have assumed he would be excited to have a friend there he did not expect. (Which he was!) I never would have guessed getting to share his vision with a completely different type of person from himself was the thing that would trip his trigger. It is so fun to find happiness can come from a completely unexpected place.
