Post 1,225: Escape the Worry
I still find myself stuck in negative spirals. I will be laying in bed, unable to fall back asleep, and my inner monologue will just be fixed on something I see as wrong in my world. It makes me feel terrible.
I keep coming back to my breath. Pulling myself out of my mind, and putting my focus into my body has been a consistently successful way to lessen my doom spiral’s power over me. I think it will be a life long practice. I have spent too much of my life looking for what is wrong for that habit to ever go away fully.
I want to share how useful shifting my focus to my breath has been. I can get out of my ruminations so quickly now. They come back. And I can get out of them again. Focus on one slow, deep, comfortable breath, and then do it again.
