Post 1,173: What About Me?
I think there is a huge emphasis right now on past decisions. All law is defined by precedents. A lot of Non-Fiction is telling other people’s stories. Americans are deeply concerned about following the constitution. College is 95% studying what other people have done.
I think this puts too much focus on other people. How do I stack up when I didn’t start Apple, or free the slaves, or start a religion?
Except, every single person in the world is just living their life. I completely get why there are not eight billion biographies out there. I am just interested in pushing for self-study, and self-discovery. I think it is fantastic I know Benjamin Franklin’s eccentricities. I think it is terrible if I don’t know my own.
